What is Samsung Knox Security?

The biggest and most important feature of Knox Security is Knox Vault. Knox Vault is one of the new layers of security added to the entire Knox Security Suite, using an isolated operating system and hardware to further isolate information from intruders.
Essentially, this means that the smartphone runs a separate OS alongside Android, acting as a layer separating apps from data. Hackers can access your fake OS, but they can’t break in and access your most private data.
What makes Samsung Knox Security unique?
What makes Samsung Knox Security so unique is the inclusion of Samsung’s dedicated Knox Vault Processor, built into the SoC of more recent flagship Samsungs like the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 alongside tablets like the Galaxy Tab S8 series.
It means that even if a vulnerability is found within the Android OS, hackers still won’t be able to access data in your vault storage as they’d need to use Samsung’s applets to gain access.
It doesn’t just protect from remote hacking attempts either, with the ability to detect physical attacks in the form of laser light or electromagnetic fault injection, and will immediately destroy all data on the phone.

Which Samsung phones offer Knox security?
The good news is that Samsung has been using Knox since 2015 on their smartphones, tablets, and even smartwatches. From the 2015 Galaxy J7 to the latest flagships.

Knox Deployment
IMPORTANT: App for enterprise IT admins who use Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) or Knox Configure (KC) or Knox Guard (KG)
The Knox Deployment App is uniquely designed to help you streamline the enterprise deployment of your enterprise’s Samsung phones and tablets. In this new version, we support Bluetooth-based enrollment in addition to NFC.
Prerequisite for IT Admins:
- You need to have applied for and set up a username and password for Knox Mobile Enrollment or Knox Configure before they can use the Knox Deployment App.
- Your devices must support NFC or Bluetooth. Please check your device specification.
- You must have at least one profile configured in the Knox Mobile Enrollment or Knox Configure portal.
IT Admins can use this app to enroll employee devices to their Knox Mobile Enrollment and Knox Configure and Knox Guard portals. This application streamlines deployment, when:
the device reseller/carrier does not participate in the Knox Deployment Program (KDP) there are only a small number of devices to enroll there is a small number of devices being tested before a bulk order is to be placed with a KDP participating reseller/carrier.
The following permissions are required for the app service. For optional permissions, the default functionality of the service is turned on, but not allowed.

- Nearby devices: Nearby devices permission is required to enroll the device using Bluetooth

If your system software version is lower than Android 6.0, please update the software to configure App permissions. Previously allowed permissions can be reset on the Apps menu in device settings after a software update.

Knox Remote Support is a remote troubleshooting solution that allows IT admins to remotely connect to the user’s device of Knox cloud services.

The Knox Service Plugin (KSP) is an app that supports a subset of Samsung Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE) features.
Enterprise IT Admins can use the KSP app to enable KPE policies on their managed devices. Once enabled, these devices can be deployed as fully managed, Knox Workspace, or fully managed with Knox Workspace.
To enable this experience, IT Admins should use a compatible UEM/EMM solution provider that supports Managed Play Store and OEMConfig within their console and backend.

Samsung Knox Secure Folder
This update is available for Samsung Mobile with Android 7.0 and above.
Secure Folder leverages the defense-grade Samsung Knox security platform to create a private, encrypted space on your Samsung Galaxy phone. Apps and data moved to Secure Folder are sandboxed separately on the device and gain an additional layer of security and privacy.
Easier and more convenient
Store your private files and apps safely. It’s easy to move apps and data by tapping “Move to Secure Folder” or by importing them via “Add files” from inside Secure Folder. Your personal apps and data will be separated and encrypted so that they are protected from malicious attacks.

Conclusion
You must have a Samsung Knox-capable device. Then you need to install the My Knox app from the Google Play Store. After installing the app, you’ll be prompted to set up a password for Knox, allowing you to switch between personal and business levels. Once you’ve installed the app and set a password, you can switch between layers by tapping the Knox icon in the notification area and entering your Knox password.
