OEM Unlock is protection in Samsung Galaxy A04e (SM-A042F, SM-A042F/DS, SM-A042M, SM-A042M/DS) running OS Android 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, or Android 13, and later, which is usually a step that users must enable in order to officially unlock their device’s bootloader. In Samsung Android ONE UI 2, ONE UI 3.0, ONE UI 4.0, 4.1.1, ONE UI 5, ONE UI 5.1, and later, Google implemented a security feature that prevents someone from unlocking. the bootloader of your Samsung Android device.
The idea behind this is in case your smartphone or tablet is stolen. If your device’s bootloader is unlockable, then all a thief would have to do is execute some ADB commands and then flash a custom recovery to perform a factory reset. This allows a thief to sell your device because it will be in working order. With OEM Unlock protection in our phones, a thief couldn’t do this unless they had your password/pattern/pin code and couldn’t log into the phone to activate this simple feature.
It’s a very simple and small feature and has kept thousands (if not millions) of people’s stolen phones and tablets from being stolen and sold quite easily. For you or me, the people who actually own our phones and tablets, it’s easy for us to go into the Samsung settings and enable it to unlock the bootloader of our devices.
Note – If you don’t plan to flash anything with your bootloader, don’t enable it and reboot your phone or you’ll be locked out!
